Initial Assesment

The initial assessment is an opportunity for us to meet your dog and determine if they will enjoy their time with us. Making sure dogs are happy and comfortable in our daycare is our priority.

The first thing we look at is why you are wanting daycare, there are many reasons people want to put their dogs in care.

Boredom busting

Somewhere to be not alone during the day due to anxiety (conditions apply)

Then we look at what you are hoping to achieve by bringing them in

Then we look at what days suit you for regular attendance. Please keep in mind that this does not always work out. Sometimes a dogs personality is better suited to a different day because of the existing group. Its our job to find the right group. Dogs love stability, they love predictability and routine, so having set days is the best way to make sure your dog settles in quickly. We recommend 2 days a week as good starting point but every dog is different and a personalized plan based on your dogs temperament and personality will be made.

When your dog arrives for their assessment they will be greeted warmly and given all the reassuring pats, then its time to say goodbye to mum or dad for the morning.

They then accompany a staff member out to the daycare where they are given the opportunity to smell and listen and relax in the new environment. Once we see your dog relax we add a few extra stimulants, such as toys and watch the response if this is positive, then one by one we bring new friends to meet your dog while always watching your dogs reactions and making sure we don’t rush them or make them uncomfortable.

By doing this we can determine the temperament and playstyle of each dog and match them accordingly to the right group to make sure all our fur babies are having the best time.

Groups and Personality Traits

Just like people, each dog is unique and has individual character traits and play styles, and it’s important we look at how these are shared with other likeminded dogs so that they can socialise and play harmoniously with their group of friends.

We look to find their shared character traits, combining the perfect balance, of age, energy and size to find the best group of 8-10 dog friends and group for their days at daycare.

We’ve summarised our beloved fur babies into four personalities groups:

When at Daycare

Once at daycare, your dog will meet up with their group of friends in either their rest or play room and will spend time in both areas throughout the day.

Our rest rooms are smaller than our play room with beds and cubby spaces to encourage down time and rest, however are large enough to have a bit of rough and tumble with friends if so desired.

Our play room is a large internal area with access to an outdoor area, pool and deck, and has various climbing and play structures made up each day from ball mazes and pits to confidence courses, fetch and tug. This is where the dogs are encouraged to run and burn energy.

Dogs are never left alone or locked up during the day and a trained staff member is always in the play areas at all times.

EXTRA ACTIVITIES

Sometimes our dogs need a little bit of extra stimulation to help them through their day, whether this be a little extra exercise for those super fit ones, some one-on-one time for the ones needing a little bit of extra attention, or some extra mental stimulation for the clever clogs, dogs, amongst us; we offer a range of additional extras to suit.

Group Walks

Want a little extra exercise or an adventure out in nature during the daycare day for your dog?

We offer 30 min group walks while your dog is at daycare. Please note that these leave “walking” from Paws and Play so are not driven to a specific location. We have a few parks and a small bush reserve that we take our lucky group walk dogs to.

Snuffle Mats

Snuffle mats are a great choice if you’re looking for a little more physical and mental enrichment. They’re perfect for dogs of all ages and help to slow down fast eaters, encourage them to use their sense of smell, reduce anxiety and burn energy.

Kongs

Kongs are a great way to add to your dog’s enrichment and keep them entertained plus, it provides a reward. We always like to reward good behaviour! Additionally, it allows your dog to forage and chew, which are natural behaviours for dogs, helping to keep them calm, entertained, and out of trouble.

Liki Mats

Licking is naturally soothing for dogs. Giving them a Liki Mat can help them relax. Not to mention that dogs love having a job to do, and giving them the opportunity to get every last lick of food out of their toy is probably their favourite job to have. We smear our Liki Mats with Peanut Butter, who doesn’t love Peanut Butter?

Roar Lunch

If you’d like your fur baby to have a little extra food while at daycare, we can offer them a Roar meat lunch during the day.

Kibble Lunch

If you’d like your fur baby to have a little extra food while at daycare, we can offer them a kibble lunch during the day.

Booking and customer types

As dogs thrive of structure and routine having a set daycare routine will help your dog know when they are coming to daycare and who their mates will be for that day.

This also enables us to ensure your dog has the best day they can while in our care.

We do know and understand that life happens and that sometimes we need flexibility so offer two types of bookings:

Regular Daycare
•   Customers who have a standing reservation
•   Able to be booked via the online customer portal on our website
•   Please note that Regular Daycare bookings will require 24 hours notice for any cancellations. No shows will incur a day rate charge.

Casual Daycare
• Customers who book as and when needed
• Casual Daycare bookings will require approval from one of our team for each casual booking before dropping your dog at daycare.

This is to ensure we have a space available and an appropriate group of friends.

BASIC OBEDIENCE

Training is an essential part of owning a dog. It is ideal to start early, however, training can be started at any age. Training builds confidence. provides mental stimulation and strengthens the human-animal bond. Dogs are always learning, and it is never too late to start training.

The beauty of how we teach basic obedience is that we don’t just teach the behaviour, but we teach the behaviour with different levels of distraction to help cement this for when you’re out and about in the real world.

We will also take you through a handover session at the end of each “block” to help enable you to continue the training outside of the day care environment – training never stops

Please note that this is Basic Obedience as is carried out in a controlled environment and will need to be continued by you outside day care for the full benefit.

BASIC OBEDIENCE FAQs

How are we going to run these sessions? Each session will be carried out within the dogs daycare hours
Who will be running these sessions? One of our senior handlers will carry out the training sessions with your dog while they are at daycare.
Why are we running these sessions? To teach the dog positive manners and to provide mental stimulation.
What is the cost for these sessions/blocks? Each block cost $75.00 which consist of 5 sessions.

BOARDING

Boarding spaces are limited to those dogs that attend daycare regularly, we choose to do this for the safety and comfort of all our lovely dogs.

Our boarding includes daycare, dogs are only kenneled for eating and sleeping

Our purpose-built boarding space allows ample room for your fur baby to have their own bed and creature comforts from home to make sure they are as comfortable as possible for their stay.
